In collaboration with Terråk School and Creative Week in March 2021, we launched a first series of workshops and marked the launch of Nordic Peacepainting 2024.
Nordic Peacepainting 2024 is a project in collaboration between Peacepainting and Bodø 2024 (European Capital of Culture in 2024) to create a dialogue and peaceful exchange between the Nordic countries. The project will teach participants that intuitive painting can give rise to an inner sense of equality, and teach artists/teachers to use art as a tool for integration. Exhibitions leading up to 2024 will ultimately enrich, inform and raise awareness on the topic of equality and create a union between people across borders.
In the first series of workshops, 32 youth students at Terråk School participated for one week during school time. Each student made 2 paintings with accompanying titles and texts.
In anticipation of 2024, the paintings created will initially be exhibited in Bindal Municipality, Nordland. A selection are currently exhibited in Bindal Museum. Later in 2021, additional paintings will will be exhibited around workplaces in Bindal. Some of the paintings created in these workshops will be included in exhibitions during Bodø 2024.
